Our Staff
The Boston Shamrocks boast some of the most qualified staff in New England girls hockey and supported by a top-notch business organization that is focused on maximizing participant experience. Here are your coaches for 2023-24.
Alexa Hingston, Director, 19U Head Coach
Alexa is entering her first season with the Boston Shamrocks. After graduating from Saint Anselm College Alexa knew she wanted to get into coaching and giving back to the youth. She has over 10 years of coaching experience. Alexa started coaching with various select clubs and summer hockey camps. She also spent a few seasons as an assistant at her alma mater, Austin Prep before taking over the head job at Reading Memorial High School. Alexa is currently the head coach at Malden Catholic High School.
Mark Russo, 16U Coach
Mark is in his first year with the Boston Shamrocks, but has an extensive coaching background in both boys and girls hockey.
Mark also was a standout hockey and college soccer player at American International College and is well respected in the hockey community. His daughter Gabby recently graduated from Arlington HS with over 100 career points.
Mark has been a coach with Bright Matter related entities since 2019 where he also coached CEO Dennis Franczak's son, Will.
Molly Corl, 12U Coach
At the age of thirteen, Coach Corl began training under Robert Rotondo. After six years of top on-ice instruction and player development, Molly received the opportunity to play for an elite junior women’s hockey team outside Toronto, then known as the Toronto Rattlers. After an extremely successful one-year stint with the Rattlers, Molly returned to New England to pursue her career at Saint Anselm College. Rotondo started the Boston Shamrocks in 2008, using Molly’s experience playing junior hockey in Toronto as a basis for the program’s design and implementation.
Prior to joining the Shamrocks coaching staff, Corl lived and played in Prague, Czech Republic. While there, she played for HC Slavia Praha under the Czech National team coach and alongside many of the Czech National Team players.
Corl’s favorite part of the job is seeing the development of the players and team throughout the season and watching players reach their potential.
Vanessa Maines
Vanessa is entering her first season as a coach with the Boston Shamrocks. A former graduate of the inaugural Boston Shamrocks team back in 2008, she is excited to be back in this new position.
After graduating from Utica College as a two-sport athlete playing hockey and lacrosse, she moved to Phoenix where she has spent the last 10 years.
Vanessa was part of a core group of dedicated and passionate hockey minds who founded the first ever women's hockey association in Arizona, the Arizona Kachinas. She spent most of her time coaching the 19U team while also sitting on the board of the organization. She then decided to get more involved with the youth programs taking over the 8U team.
After recently moving back home to Boston, she is eager and excited to be coaching again with the organization that helped lay the foundation for her impressive career.
